Seedsigner premium

From 165.00

The SeedSigner is an offline device for signing air-gapped bitcoin transactions with a precision CNC milled aluminium enclosure & buttons. This product was designed by the Free Open Source SeedSigner project.

The Seedsigner is stateless meaning there is no private key stored on the device. The Seedsigner first scans a private key in QR form to then sign and send bitcoin transactions. This means this device can not be hacked, because there is nothing to be hacked and you can just leave the Seedsigner on your desk. You only need to secure your QR code. Check out the Seedfan steel backup for a steel QR based backup compatible with the Seedsigner.

Seedsigner is built from off-the-shelf components. At the heart of the seedsigner is a Raspberry Pi Zero & Pi Zero Camera. These are off the shelve components available everywhere which means should anything ever break (which is unlikely inside the extremely solid CNC-milled black aluminium case) anyone could simply replace the camera for example.

Consider bundling your Seedsigner with a Seedfan backup (paper + steel) which has a 24 word backup AND a QR-code backup, which is the same as the 24 words, just in QR form. This is the easiest entry into ultimate, easy to use, multi-sig security.

Aluminium case is not available separately.

The key component in SeedSigner is a specific version of the Raspberry Pi Zero single board computer (version 1.3) that does not include WiFi or Bluetooth functionality; the absence of these modules ensures that your private keys never leave the device. Communication with wallet software is accomplished using a two-way QR code exchange process. Information about a proposed transaction is displayed by the wallet software on your computer or mobile phone screen, encoded in multiple QR codes, and you scan in the transaction information using SeedSigner’s built-in camera. Information about the proposed transaction is then displayed for you to review and confirm on the SeedSigner screen. Using cryptographic signatures, SeedSigner then proves that it has the correct private keys to authorize the transaction, and QR codes demonstrating that proof are displayed on SeedSigner’s screen. You then use your computer’s or mobile phone’s on-board camera to input the QR codes generated by SeedSigner to authorize the transaction.
